Moving and Packing Made Easier with These Expert Tips

It’s that time for my family again. The time when the military controls the location that we temporarily call home. Yes, we are moving! We have lived in this lovely state of California since August 2018, and now in just a matter of weeks, we will relocate. I am somewhat excited, because this is the last destination for us. The next time we move will be to our forever home, or at least where we will be for a long time because retirement is in less than two years. Since this is our 6th move, there are a few things that I have learned. In fact, this is our third move with both girls, and now there’s no more breastfeeding and no more diapers. But I do have two backseat drivers who control the radio. Here are a few things that I have learned over the years that will help you move from across country, or across town.
The Best Practices in Packing a Home for a Move
Many military families move throughout the year to new duty stations. We all have our ways of packing, but one that I love to share is to color code individual rooms. So for instance, the living room is red, the kitchen is purple, the master bedroom is yellow and so forth. This way I can keep track of how many boxes are expected per room, and what’s inside. I have used this technique for 3 of our moves, and it is greatly appreciated by the movers.
Another moving practice that I use is to not take our clothes off the hangers. Instead, I cover them with a scented trash bag and let the movers put them in a wardrobe box. This way my clothes stay protected and they smell nice once they arrive to our new home.

Choosing the Right Moving Company
Moving is a time-consuming and expensive endeavor. When you’re packing up your life and moving, it’s easy to get caught up in the big picture of the move and forget about all of the little details. When factoring in the costs of moving supplies and transportation can become pretty extreme. It is imperative to choose a company that is not only within your budget, but also professional. If you are in the California area, I would highly recommend Big Deahl Movers. They are the areas best movers and packers. Rancho Cucamonga long distance mover are professional and their trucks are capable of handling your biggest load.

Let it Go!
Yes, just like Elsa. Purge and let all that clutter go. It’s so refreshing to enter into your new home, your new season with less clutter and great organization. Since I homeschool my girls, I have gone through all of our books and supplies to downsize a little. I must admit that I am a curriculum junky. If it looks interesting then I purchase it. And don’t get me started on Pinterest. I think I have more art supplies than Hobby Lobby.
So sis, these are my suggestions if you are looking to move soon. Make sure to have a plan so that you can keep the stress levels down. I mean you can even make it fun by inviting friends over to help you organize your move. Whatever you decide, I hope that it is an enjoyable experience.
